2nd Tissue Models & Phenotypic Screening Conference May 5 - 7, 2015, Berlin, Germany ( 8:00 am )

2nd Tissue Models & Phenotypic Screening Conference May 5 - 7, 2015, Berlin, Germany

We invite you to the attend the 2nd Tissue Models & Phenotypic Screening Conference, which will take place on May 5 - 7, 2015 in Berlin, Germany.

Over the years, three-dimensional (3D) models have become more favored over two-dimensional models (2D) because they better mimic the in vivo environment. Though 3D models have the potential to reduce failure in early stage drug discovery, there are still many questions to be answered: What are the gaps that still exist between 3D and 2D models? How will we conduct research to fill those gaps and what technological developments are needed?

Sessions for the meeting include:
I. Human Tissue Engineered Models for Drug Development
II. Biomimetic In Vitro Models: Development, Structure, and Function
III. In-Vivo 3D Models for Drug Safety Testing (Toxicology) and Screening
IV. Phenotypic Screening with Functional Analysis Including Complex Models
V. Target Identification & Target Fishing After a Phenotypic Screen
VI. Phenotypic Screening for Target Deconvolution (joint session with parallel Drug Design & Medicinal Chemistry Conference)
VII. Advances in Phenotypic Screening and Functional Analysis
VIII. Case Studies in Phenotypic Screening
IX. High Content Analysis of Tumor Spheroid Models
X. Developing Physiologically Relevant Models: 2D, Tissue, and Organ System Models

This meeting will bring together researchers from across multiple disciplines, from both industry and academia, to discuss how we can better engineer tissues for clinical delivery and develop models for drug screening.

We hope to see you there!

Pharmacovigilance, Drug Safety & Risk Management 11-12 May 2015, London UK ( 8:00 am )

Pharmacovigilance, Drug Safety & Risk Management 11-12 May 2015, London UK

The expansive field of drug surveillance has increased the complexity of problems across the board in relation to PV auditing and meeting the standard requirements. Companies continue to face challenges of understanding the key considerations when presenting to auditors and knowing how to adequately adapt to different regulatory environments and changes. Moreover, clarifying individual roles within the PV system is paramount to setting out clear goals and meeting regulatory expectations.

For any company looking to globalise their business, the governance of reporting adverse drug events by different centralised authorities, along with heterogeneous terminologies and competing priorities has created greater uncertainties and barriers to enter new markets. The daunting task of complying with multiple regulations also heightens the danger of unrealistic expectations as well as mounting costs and time that will have long-term implications on investment.
Therefore, the importance of a centralised database has never been more vital to employ knowledge sharing and product awareness.

Join SMi in tackling these issues: 2015 will bring a focus on drug surveillance and signal detection; analysis and prevention of adverse drug reactions with MedDRA, industry experiences and global regulatory coverage of developments. Furthermore, we will cover Eudravigilance, and the growing trend of outsourcing Pharmacovigilance, as well as navigate through the challenges of compiling PSUR’s and frequent safety reports and how to adapt better to regulatory updates by preparing key areas that will be most impacted.

Functional Genomics Conference May 21-22, 2015, Boston, MA ( 8:00 am )

Functional Genomics Conference May 21-22, 2015, Boston, MA

The Functional Genomics Conference, a part of The Pan-Omics Summit, will be held on May 21 - 22, 2015 in Boston, MA at the Hyatt Regency.

The Functional Genomics Conference focuses on understanding the specific cellular events that occur on every level of transcription, translation, and protein-protein interactions. Speakers will present on mutations that are controlled at the level of DNA and how they are predictors for the change in function and structure in downstream products. Recent developments in gene targeting technology provides crucial information in target validation for therapeutics and application in the areas of inflammation, oncology, immunology, and infectious diseases. Also, we will take a closer look at genomic variation in relation to predicting a patient's response to drugs.

Topics to be discussed:

I. Genomic Variation as a Predictor of Protein-protein and Protein Drug Interactions
II. Molecular Diagnostics and Therapeutic Application for Complex Diseases
III.Transcriptome Profiling and Genome Regulation by mRNAs, microRNAs, and long noncoding RNAs
IV. Approaches for Analysis and Intergration of Complex Data
V. Genome Wide Mutagenesis and Phenotypic Analysis
VI. Developments and Challenges in Target Validation
VII. Prospects for Epigenomic-based Drug Discovery
