Pharmacopeia, Inc. was founded in 1993 as a company focused on industrializing and marketing the then new technology of combinatorial chemistry. We executed a successful IPO in 1995, and built the world's leading provider of computational tools to support drug discovery at Accelrys Inc., following our initial acquisition of Molecular Simulations Inc. in 1998. Throughout the last 6 years Pharmacopeia Drug Discovery has continued to build its drug discovery platform and expertise through collaborative drug discovery alliances. Through our collaborative discovery model we have succeeded, with our partners, in advancing 4 partnered compounds into clinical trials in recent months, thus providing the objective validation of our platform required to operate Pharmacopeia Drug Discovery as an independent drug discovery organization.
