ChemDiv, Inc. (Chemical Diversity) and Yale University have announced that they were awarded a joint Phase I NIH grant to discover small molecule inhibitors of a G-protein coupled receptor, the melanocortin-2 receptor (MC2R). Chemical Diversity will be responsible for chemistry and high throughput screening using assays developed by the Yale scientists, who will also be responsible for performing the follow-up in depth studies into the mode of the action of the discovered hits to lead the design and synthesis of combinatorial libraries around the hits for the hit-to-lead and lead optimization programs.
