10/26/03 - TekCel
Has introduced the TekBench-SP™, a fully automated liquid handling platform for the processing of tube- and plate-based samples in an inert environment, and contains storage for 1008 microplates, containers and consumables and four dynamically exchangeable pipetting tools with flow-through wash stations. The workspace can be configured to perform a range of processing tasks for tubes (96-tube piercing, active thawing, reformatting) and plates (replication, reformatting, cherry picking).

10/21/03 - Iconix Pharmaceuticals
Announced that Millennium Pharmaceuticals has selected Iconix to provide advanced chemogenomic profiling and analytical services for specific Millennium drug discovery programs, including the application of specific Iconix biomarkers for drug optimization. Under the agreement Millennium will apply Iconix’s chemogenomics platform to enhance its drug candidate selection and optimization.

10/16/03 - Aclara BioSciences
Has expanded their set of eTag™ gene expression assays to include eleven different pre-formatted and validated panels of genes that range in the number of genes monitored from six to 24. In addition to these formatted gene panels, ACLARA has assembled a substantial collection of assays for other individual genes involved in drug toxicity that can be configured into multi-gene panels. In the ADME/Tox area, this collection includes approximately 300 human genes and 100 rat genes.

10/15/03 - Fisher/Maybridge/
Fisher Scientific is now stocking 3,700 chemical building blocks from Maybridge of Cornwall, England, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fisher Scientific International Inc. The building blocks, which are all featured in the recently published Maybridge 2003-04 catalog, can be ordered with the option of next-day delivery in the US.

10/15/03 - Asinex
Has entered into an agreement with Asahi Kasei to optimize their hit compounds at the Asinex facilities in Moscow. Several rounds of synthesis have already been completed, and options for further optimization are being explored.

10/15/03 - Chemical Diversity Labs
Will enter into a virtual screening collaboration with Biogen to help identify drug candidates. Under this arrangement, Biogen will have access to over 2 million feasible compounds from Chemical Diversity's quality diverse and targeted collection for virtual screening and hit identification. Chemical Diversity's libraries now consist of over 550,000 diverse and targeted compounds.

10/14/03 - Evotec OAI/Biofrontera
Announced a co-marketing and distribution agreement to offer natural compounds for drug discovery services. Biofrontera utilises a collection of microorganisms and several million natural compounds derived from them. Evotec OAI will incorporate this collection into its ultra- high-throughput screening services augmenting its diverse screening library of small molecules. Pharmacological and chemical services on structures resulting from natural compound screens will be provided by both companies.

10/9/03 - Beckman Coulter
Has entered into a non-exclusive, multi-year agreement with R&D Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Techne Corporation, to develop automated cytokine assays and to manufacture assay components designed for Beckman Coulter's Access® family of immunoassay systems - the UniCel DxI™ 800 immunoassay and SYNCHRON LX®i 725 clinical systems. New assays are expected beginning in 2004.

10/4/03 - CyBio
The CyBi™- Genomics Workstation that utilises existing HTS technologies with a new module for nucleic acid purification with vacuum based technologies.was launched at Biotechnica 2003 in Hannover, Germany.  Key applications include nucleic acid purification using magnetic beads, PCR- and sequencing reaction setup, and replication and compression of culture plates.
