8/19/03 - NicOx Announced an agreement with Merck to evaluate selected nitric oxide-donating compounds under NicOx’s intellectual property rights. NicOx will provide Merck with nitric oxide-donating compounds for evaluation in a preclinical testing program in an undisclosed therapeutic area. A joint research group will coordinate the research program.
8/18/03 - ChemCodes/VM Discovery Established a strategic alliance that provides access to and leverages each firm's technologies to increase molecular diversity, accuracy and speed of small molecule drug discovery. The alliance will be used for ChemCodes' internal drug discovery programs, respective corporate partnership collaborations and for joint pursuit of selected drug discovery programs.
8/14/03 - Pierce Biotechnology/Amphioxus Cell Technologies Entered into a co-marketing agreement involving two complementary platform technologies used in high-throughput drug discovery. both companies will co-market products used in target identification and validation specific to
kinases, phosphatases and ADME-TOX. The companies will share specific product information and support enabling the technologies to remain compatible.
8/12/03 - Argonaut Technologies Announced introduction of a new technology that combines the effectiveness of Argonaut's resins with specially designed cartridges that improve yield and accelerate purification. Specifically, the MP-TsOH cartridges provide drug discovery and medicinal chemists with a means to increase the purification throughput of amines, an important class of drug compounds.
8/12/03 - Tecan Launched several new automation solutions at Drug Discovery Technology 2003, in Boston. Tecan showcased additional new automation technologies including Freedom EVO, a powerful, flexible and scalable platform, and an animated video presentation of its corresponding control management software, Freedom EVOware. In addition, Tecan unveiled GENios Pro with injectors, a cost-effective multimode microplate reader that made its U.S. debut.
8/11/03 - Norak Biosciences/Cellomics Norak Biosciences, Inc., a global leader in the discovery and development of drugs that regulate GPCRs), and Cellomics, Inc., the leading provider of integrated platforms for drug discovery focused on understanding the functions and effectors of living cells, signed a N American/European sales and marketing agreement. The agreement additionally provides for 1) marketing of Norak's Transfluor® technology with Cellomics' ArrayScan® HCS Reader and/or KineticScan® HCS Reader; and 2) co-development of future GPCR- based reagent products.
8/11/03 - Tripos Announced the release of ChemCoreRIOTM, ChemCoreREGTM and the Tripos Electronic NotebookTM, the key components in its new informatics solution designed to streamline laboratory workflows, and SARNavigatorTM and LITHIUMTM, the data analysis and decision support components in its knowledge management solution. The key to the success of the system is the AuspyxTM data cartridge, which enables Oracle to process chemical structures like any other pieces of data.
8/11/03 - Genetix The aliQuot is a new purpose built low-volume liquid dispensing system. The aliQuot allows dispensing into 96-, 384- and 1536-well microplates including Genetix low profile, standard height and deep-well microplates in the 0.5-10 μl range. A range of interchangeable reagent reservoirs, ranging from 60 ml to 2 liters in volume, are available.
8/5/03 - Norak Announced acquisition from LION bioscience AG of the ChemFolio® library of > 500,000 diverse compounds originally acquired by Lion through its 2001 acquisition of Trega Biosciences of San Diego. Trega has sold various ChemFolio sub-libraries to more than twenty pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide. 8/1/03 - NiKem Research Has entered into further research collaborations with GlaxoSmithKline, following the successful completion of a lead optimization project. The two new research agreements enable GSK Psychiatry and GSK Neurology & GI CEDD to access NiKem's chemitechnology platform and medicinal chemists for the creation of focused combinatorial libraries and support in medicinal chemistry with NiKem's Fast-Track Hit Validation and Lead Optimization Plus services.
